What a handy little device. While there are lots of little massagers on the market, this one had a lot of cool features:
-just the right size (about as big as a doorknob)
-the tip is really smooth to decrease friction (some massagers can “catch”)
-has this rubber stuff around the top where you grip it so it doesn’t slip around
-looks prettier sitting around than other massagers
So who needs one? Just about anyone with sore muscles. The idea here is that sore and painful muscles have little irritable knots/spots in them, called trigger points, that cause pain. The cure? Rubbing them and working them out. While you could do this with your bare fingers, this can put a lot of stress on them over time and do damage. Also, using this device will enable you to massage longer- a definite plus! Useful for everyday sore muscles, or when trying to get rid of a chronic problem, consider this little tool- you won’t regret it. Those with elbow tendiitis might also want to check out Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow. Happy massaging!

I really wanted to buy the more expensive metal tool that could have ice or heat in it but just couldn’t justify the price. Boy, am I glad I bought the Knobble II instead! Even though it doesn’t look like much, it really can get deep into those areas of your body that have knots and spasms. With just a light pressure, it really works them out. Before, I was practically numbing my husband’s thumb having him do pressure point. His thumb would hurt and shake from having to push so hard. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has spasms or knots they want out. It can be used by yourself, but having someone else do it gets a better angle.

I was the type that actually wedged my TV remote in places on my back – trying to get relief to those pressure points. Now I can reach them easily. I also use the edge to roll on sore muscles to massage.
If you are the type that can’t take pain on these areas, you wont like it. It is hard and really does the job at applying deep pressure to these points.

I bought this item to replace my “shiatsu hoop” I’ve had for about 15 years. I needed something to get into my shoulder blade area. It works great. I lay on it in bed n rotate my arms to get into different areas. I also use it while in a chair (you need to ensure your chair can handle it). I dont just use the point of it, I use the edge to get inside certain areas. Its a sturdy product. I’ve had it for about a year and no problems (other than losing it lol). Its well worth the price.

I have tennis (outside) and golfer (inside) elbow tendonitis. The Knobble used a 2 -3 times a day provides some relief and releases some of the tension in my elbow. Just find where the pain is and gradually work the knobble in that area.

As someone who is about to graduate to be a Massage Therapist, I find the techniques in this book to be good, and the massage sequences outlined in the Sweedish Massage quite similar to the sequences I learned in school. The pictures and diagrams are thorough, and the instruction on Shiatsu is good as well. From a professional perspective, I had some problems with this book though. One big probelm is the book discounts knowledge of anatomy as unnessicary for massage, and I strongly disagree with that. Massage is applied anatomy, and the study of anatomy is essential for anyone who wishes to be a massage therapist, or even a good ameture. Without understanding what it is you are pressing, kneading, rubbing, and tapping you’re not going to be able to be very theraputic.I was dissapointed that the book hardly touched on contraindications(cautions, conditions in which massage can be harmfull) such as cancer, diabeties, AIDS, alcohol consumption and others. Where it does mention contraindications, it’s more of a short sidenote than anything. The book has full nudity in most of the books pictures. While this isn’t a bad thing nessicarily, I didn’t see any information about draping procedures and protecting client modesty. Also, most of the massage is done on the floor, rather than a massage table and there was little discussion of body mechanics of the therapist. I get the feeling the book was actually meant for ‘sensual’ couples massage, rather than a guide for someone who is out to become a good massage therapist. In that light, it is a decent book for couples sensual massage.

I’m not interested in massage professionaly, just for my boyfriend and I to have a way to treat each other. And this was the perfect book for us to learn. It goes over the three main types of massage in a clear precise manner, describes each kind of stroke, the positions the massuesse should be in for each stage of massage, everything! This is a great book for trying at home. It would be a cool if they did it with a spiral bound though so that you could leave it open to a certain page….

I wanted a basic book of massage techniques, this is it. I also bought another book with photos that I don’t find nearly as good. This one has drawings with helpful diagrams as to direction etc. This book also covers the basics of shiatsu and reflexology but by far the most extensive section is on massage. I learned a lot just from scanning the text and studying the diagrams/drawings. This is a great book and worth the money.

I borrowed this from a friend a while back, mostly on a whim. It’s a very good introduction to massage, with illustrations that are helpful, and interesting sections such as child massage and self-massage. Like the title says, it covers different methods of massage, which is helpful, and then you get to pick and choose because some work better than others. There’s nudity in the photographs, but it’s nothing very risque. After reading the book I applied the techniques to my friends when they were stressed out, and they kept coming back for more, which is the best praise you can get.

This book appears to have been created many years ago and now looks its age. The techniques are disorganized and the book includes many pages of questionable and hard to figure out “options.” The author was showing off and we readers must wade through page after page of needlessly difficult massage instructions. The art seems dated too and is poorly done. Much of the book is devoted to “Shiatsu” a Japanese therapy that can be very painful and doesn’t belong in a massage book. To summarize: a little useful material here and there but many techniques employing “pressure points” and similar quackery. Really not worth your time.
