This book is an easy-to-read overview of back problems that actually helped me tremendously! I have been dealing with back pain for the past several years and visited many doctors, specialists and physical therapists as well as trying many of the “alternative” treatments such as massage, herbs, supplements, glucosamine, chiropractors, liniments and yes even drugs such as Vioxx and Celebrex with minor improvement, but never a long-term cure. I was pleased that this book provides many back-strengthening exercises with easy-to-follow photos and directions. I am very glad I read this book and highly recommend it as it has provided me my first long-term relief in years. Happy reading.

What I appreciated most about this book was it’s balanced approach to treating back
and neck pain. Having recently taken up golf, which aggravated a prior back problem,
I read this book to get an understanding of my treatment options. This book provides
excellent coverage of both surgical and non-surgical options as well as, what I found
very interesting, how the mind can influence back pain. I especially liked the exercises
to strengthen the back which I now do as part of my exercise regimen. I’d give this
book five stars for presenting a good even picture of treatment alternatives, many of
which I hadn’t really considered.

I was injured in ski accident a couple of years ago. Chiropractor’s xrays indicated that I had 2 bulging discs. After a few treatments with Chiroprator and no relief, I went to physical therapist who recommended this book. Pain was beginning to radiate to my right leg and I was willing to try anything to avoid surgery. After a few days of doing the exercises, I experienced, just as the book indicated, the discs returning to position. Pain in leg was completely gone immediately. My back was a little tender for a day, but then pain was gone and I’ve had no further problems. Terrific book and certainly worth trying before undergoing back surgery. kt

After a visit to a chiropractor (who was highly recommended) and being told I would need a year of treatments with a total cost of $2700.00, I opted to order this book and after doing the exercises for 1 month, I have been pain free from my sciatica!

The book is very practical and accurate. The illustrated motons
with 10 or 20 seconds holding time prove to be effective to allow muscle
or joints to correct itself but not overdoing it with short holding time.
